The 8th Korean Heritage Day Festival
The Korean Heritage Day Festival (KHDF) is an annual festival celebrating the Korean-Canadian community in the lower mainland. It is a one-day festival to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Blue Mountain Park in Coquitlam that showcases Korean heritage through cultural performances, food, and community gathering. This year Festival will celebrate Coquitlam’s 2009 Cultural Capitals of Canada designation. The Society is very proud of being part of celebrating Cultural Capitals of Canada. The annual KHDF was started in 2002 and the Province of British Columbia declared the official Korea Day in 2003 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Korea-Canada diplomatic relations.
Each year the festival has grown and has since become the most anticipated and celebrated event for the Korean community in the Lower Mainland. Aside from the thousands of visitors on the day of the festival, this annual event is a collaborative effort of many dedicated sponsors, community organizations, artists, performers and volunteers.
